Tom Jones Fund for Rigby Hall School

WCF has provided funding from the Tom Jones fund for 5 ‘Murray Mats’, to support a local Bromsgrove school with water safety awareness.

Rigby Hall School
is an SEN school based in the Aston Fields area which specialises in supporting the learning of children from 4-16 with a range of learning disabilities and autism.

The school is hiring a temporary swimming pool for 3 weeks to enable pupils – some of whom have never swum or been in a pool before – to enjoy the water and learn how to swim.

These are large wipeable mats which can be hung on a wall or used on the floor; they encourage children to spot water dangers and because of their large size will be especially useful to continue their water safety awareness when the pool has been dismantled, continuing with longer term messages.

The Tom Jones Fund was set up to commemorate and celebrate Tom Jones, a young man from Bromsgrove who had just started Worcester University when due to an unfortunate accident he drowned in the River Severn. Tom’s Fund supports young people and sports activities across Worcestershire.
