St Richard’s Hospice
The grant from WCF’s Covid Fund has helped St Richard’s Hospice quickly adapt to the changing needs of patients and families and the Hospice now offers many services virtually, making the most of technology. For example, our Family Support Team is working virtually, undertaking intense work with people who have been bereaved by COVID-19 who are loved ones of patients and those with no previous connection to St Richard’s. We are also holding bereavement groups online, patient groups via Zoom and online training for health professionals and other organisations in how to support the bereaved. The hospice Living Well Services team holds virtual clinics and video consultations, online patient social groups via Zoom and a range of virtual sessions such as coping with illness and managing breathlessness etc. Our In-patient Unit is encouraging virtual visiting and providing portals as well as online ways to send messages of love.
