Barnt Green Sailing Club: Made by Sport project

Barnt Green Sailing Club held its first Junior Training sailing course of the year between the 19th and 21st April and had the opportunity to use the recently installed floating pontoon to provide better access on to the water for able and less abled sailors, and to ensure safety for those new to sailing. 30 young people signed up for the course who gained valuable skills for the future and enabled the Club’s volunteer instructors to impart their knowledge and experience.

The Sailing Club are very grateful to have received financial support to purchase the pontoon facility with grant funding from the Royal Yachting Association Foundation, Made in Sport through the Worcestershire Community Foundation, Bromsgrove District Council through the “New Homes Bonus” scheme and with the balance being made by the Sailing Club.

“I would encourage people to sail, as it is the perfect opportunity for all to get active through sport participation, improve their mental health and well-being, learn a new skill and develop confidence in communication with others”. said Gordon Padmore.
