Worcester Paint Festival 2023-24

WCF’s grant to Worcester Paint Festival event helped support their amazing large-scale murals from street and graffiti artists, and their Paint the Streets exhibition at Worcester City Art Gallery & Museum.

The exhibition ran from 16th September 2023-6th January 2024. It told the story of UK graffiti history and Worcester’s involvement, using archive from veteran local artists, original 1987 graffiti boards, work loaned from private collectors featuring Banksy and Inkie, plus work from Worcester Paint Festival artists. In addition, workshops were delivered to:

  • Action for Children’s LGBTQ+ groups from across Worcestershire
  • Onside art group bringing together different ages and abilities
  • Warndon Oasis Community Hub facilitating a young people’s mural making session

Emerging artist Oskar with a K, from Manchester said:

“It was my first time painting at a mural festival but from the minute I arrived I was given everything I needed, even a lunchbox! So many lovely interactions with locals and people on the mural trail. Whole families came by to say hello and kids helped me out with painting which was fun. My impression from other artists is that, compared with many other festivals, WPF has a reputation for treating artists fairly.”
