Community football match raises over £16,000
A community-led charity football match raised over £16,000 for Primrose Hospice, bringing people together in memory of local man Mark Crisp and demonstrating the power of grassroots fundraising.
Hosted by Bromsgrove Sporting Football Club, the event brought together players, volunteers, friends and family for a day of remembrance, connection and community spirit. The match was organised to celebrate Mark’s life and raise funds for a cause close to the hearts of those involved.
The event was supported by a grant from WCF’s Tom Jones In Memoriam Fund. The funding enabled the purchase of bespoke kits for the match, helping to bring the event to life and maximise fundraising opportunities. Additional fundraising activity, including replica shirt sales, contributed to the overall total of over £16,000 in support of Primrose Hospice.
Primrose Hospice provides vital care and support for families living with life-limiting conditions, and the funds raised will help ensure this important work can continue.
The event also brought together volunteers and members of the local community, highlighting the strength of collective action and the role of community-led initiatives in creating meaningful impact.
Rob McLaren, Director and Match Day Facilitator at Bromsgrove Sporting Football Club, said:
