Glencora is a donor-led fund that has traditionally focused on community projects enhancing the lives of older people in the county. Glencora is particularly interested in supporting projects that address Age UK’s four key drivers of wellbeing:

  • Maintaining meaningful engagement
  • Creative and cultural participation
  • Physical activity
  • Thinking skills

Glencora is particularly interested in creative and innovative solutions that give practical benefits.

Sometimes relatively small grants that are well targeted can work wonders. In 2017 the Glencora Fund provided grants to village halls to help them to encourage isolated, local people to join social community activities and events.

People with dementia should be active members of local communities and in villages this means that the village hall must be accessible. WCF has been working with University of Worcester, Malvern Dementia Action Alliance and Community First on a ground-breaking scheme to make village halls dementia-friendly. The alliance developed a user-friendly toolkit which had wide distribution.

WCF is currently conducting an internal review of the Fund to ensure that it is fulfilling meaningful aims in the county and has a productive future ahead of it.
